Mustard Kids Club

Mission Statement
‘to encourage children to grow in their faith while playing games together they will learn to co-operate and work as a team. Friendships are built through games and self discipline can grow as they set rules for games themselves.’

Puppet Ministry
Geraldine Moore also runs a puppet ministry team, which supports not only Mustard Seed activity, but also goes round to other organisations with children activities.

Objectives:

  • To provide a safe place for children to be together.
  • To develop social skills between children.

The Club club is open 1st Sunday 11am – 12:30am of every month at this address:

All our club activities are supervised by staff who are CRB checked.

These are examples of some of the activities that take place at Mustard Seed.

1.PARACHUTE CROSSOVERS

what you need
A play parachute
A paper/pen to keep a record of calls

What you do
*children gather round parachute.
*review safety
*move parachute up and down.
*step back as parachute falls.
*when you are ready, the leaders calls out a selection of:
ages/colour/names etc.

2. ANIMAL MASKS

maskwhat you need a paper plate for each child.
Felt pens, Looly sticks, P.V.A. glue

What you do,
*talk to the children about what they are making and show them an example.
*give each child a paper plate and ask  them to write their name on the back.
*draw eyes and mouth
*glue on cotton wool for sheep etc.
*attach the top half of a lolly stick to the back of the plate with stick tape to form handle.

3. SKIPPING
Either on an individual basis or as a group.

4. HOOLA HOOPS
All the children will come and collect hoola hoops and the winner is the one who can keep theirs moving in the longest time.

5. PASS THE BALL
Children stand in the circle, the leader passes the ball to a child in a certain way (bounce pass).
Child uses same pass back to the leader and this can be speeded up, and if child drops the ball they are out of the game.

6. USING PUPPETS
Puppets are their for the children to use in a dramatic way or singing to a special song on cd.

7. GOSPEL DANCE
Children dancing to popular gospel music and performing certain steps. (The leader shows steps)

8. PLAY ROUNDERS.
Children are divided into two teams and each side has a certain amount of time in and try to score runs.

9. PLAY FOOTBALL
A leader is in goals and different children try to score a goal.

10. SIMEON SAYS
the leaders choose different things to do e.g. hop/skip/jump/
the children follow the leader.
